What is Brain Health?

The World Health Organization defines Brain Health as the state of brain functioning across cognitive, sensory, social-emotional, behavioral and motor domains, allowing a person to realize their full potential over the life course, irrespective of the presence or absence of disorders.

At The Joy & Wellness Center, we are committed to cognitive health, which is why we are introducing cognitive performance assessments from Creyos Health to measure how your brain is doing over time. Our mental health services now include a quick, fun series of tasks that objectively measure your memory, reasoning, verbal ability, and attention—all aspects of cognition that are important in your everyday life. It’s not a test—it’s a quick checkup on how you’re doing today, like a blood pressure cuff for your brain.

The Creyos tasks have been validated by decades of scientific research, and are proven to measure the most important aspects of cognition. Performance is directly linked with the areas of your brain that are required for each cognitive area. The tasks only take 55 minutes to complete. With ongoing cognitive performance assessments, you can track your progress.

What are the assessments like?

The assessments offer quick and powerful insights through having you complete a fun series of tasks meant to measure aspects of cognitive ability such as memory, puzzle solving ability, and reasoning skills. During each task, you have multiple chances and the tasks adapt to meet your ability level. Plus, they are never the same so you can retake the assessment multiple times and it remains valid each time you take it. This is extremely useful in tracking your progress during on-going treatment.

Does my insurance cover Cognitive Performance Assessments?
Many insurance plans do cover cognitive performance assessments when done together with a diagnostic evaluation or as part of an on-going treatment plan. Check with your insurance plan in advance to be sure.

What if I want an assessment without on-going treatment?
Cognitive performance assessments without a diagnostic interview or on-going services are available at a flat fee. We offer the option to complete the assessment and obtain the results or a second option to obtain the results and meet with our providers or technician to go over the results together. Speak to our front desk for more details.
