Katrina Higgins, PsyDIn-Office & Telehealth Provider
Dr. Higgins has been a licensed clinical psychologist since 2010 and primarily focuses on the brain-behavior relationship. Much of her time at the Center is devoted to being the Director of Psychological Assessment. She helps individuals identify the source of their difficulties and explore appropriate treatment options based on that information. She does evaluations for ADHD, Autism, personality disorders, cognitive functioning, disability, pre-surgical readiness, and fitness for duty. She specializes in working with adults in therapy who have experienced trauma or who struggle with anxiety, primarily utilizing treatment modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Nick Jones, PhDIn-Office & Telehealth Provider
Dr. Jones is a licensed psychologist who received his Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from the University of South Dakota. He works with kids (6+) and adults to provide psychological testing to assess for ADHD, Autism, learning disorders, personality disorders, and other conditions. Dr. Jones is our Training Director and works closely with our center's student interns and provides them with ongoing supervision and training. When providing individual therapy, he uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and skills training with a focus on interpersonal relationships. He specializes in treating ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD. In addition, he performs Diagnostic Evaluations and Psychological Testing for academic accommodation, Disability, cognitive and memory functioning, IQ, pre-surgical readiness, pre-employment, and Fitness for Duty.

Katia Ramirez, PsyDIn-Office & Telehealth Provider
Dr. Ramirez is a licensed psychologist who received her Doctorate of Psychology from Argosy University in 2009 and her Masters in Education in Counseling from the University of Puget Sound. In addition, she is an artist and enjoys drawing, painting, and creating murals. She works with clients of all ages who struggle with a variety of issues, including Trauma, Grief and Loss, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Autism, Developmental disorders, Intellectual disabilities, behavioral challenges and poor coping skills. She uses CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and Attachment-based treatments.

Amanda Quayle, PsyDTelehealth Provider
Dr. Quayle is a licensed psychologist who received her Doctorate of Psychology from The California School of Professional Psychology. She has worked helping survivors of relationship violence, along with members of the LGBT and HIV communities. Dr. Quayle works with adults and couples using a blend of theories centered on mindfulness-based reduction model. She works with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, parenting issues, infertility, surrogacy, postpartum issues, NICU experiences, special needs parenting, LGBT issues, and coping with life threatening illnesses.

Dr. Cruz is a licensed psychologist who received her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California in 2021 specializing in neuropsychology and forensic psychology. Her primary role at the Center is conducting neuropsychological and psychological assessment regarding a wide range of conditions including ADHD, autism, cognitive functioning, and psychodiagnostic clarification. Dr. Cruz specializes in neuropsychological services across the lifespan and works with adults, children, and adolescents.

Jim is a licensed mental health counselor who earned his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Saint Martin’s University. As a military veteran, he is acquainted with the unique challenges of those who serve. Jim works with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, life transitions, postpartum issues, divorce, trauma, abuse, mood disorders, grief, and physical illness. Jim employs empathic listening and a person-centered approach with a foundation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness.

Cassandra Fiorina, LICSW, PMH-CIn-Office & Telehealth Provider
Cassandra is a licensed independent clinical social worker, a Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider, and our Clinical Director. She graduated with her Master's degree from the University of Washington in social work. She specializes in pregnancy, post partum and early infant and childhood mental health. She works with pregnant and parenting adults as well as children ages 0-5 to promote positive parent/child interactions and healthy attachment. She also works with children, teens, and adults. She works to provide skills and psychoeducation to those experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety and families who need support regarding their children's development, social emotional needs, and the impact of trauma.

Elizabeth Areta, LMHCTelehealth Provider
Elizabeth has been practicing therapy since 2019. She works with a wide range of ages and diagnoses. She is trained in CBT, DBT, and trauma processing. Elizabeth believes in meeting people where they are at and working collaboratively towards their goals. In her down time, she loves to play with her kids, hang out with her partner and find new recipes to cook or bake. She looks forward to getting to know her clients and supporting them in their mental health journey.

Rachel (they/them) is a Doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at Fielding Graduate university. They work at The Joy and Wellness Center providing psychotherapy and psychological evaluations under the supervision Dr. Nick Jones. Rachel is a licensed mental health counselor associate (LMHCA). They work with teens and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, stress, sexuality and gender issues, neurodivergence, grief and life challenges.

Dr. Power (she/her) is a LMHCA who provides virtual individual and couples therapy under the supervision of Dr. Nick Jones. She earned her Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University, is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Washington, and has clinical experience in university counseling, community mental health, private practice and integrated care settings.
Dr. Power takes an integrative, strengths-based approach to therapy that is grounded in attachment theory, emotion-focused therapy, and psychodynamic principles. She also blends evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has a particular passion for working with adults navigating trauma, stress, anxiety, and relational concerns, and brings specialized experience supporting first responders and individuals impacted by PTSD and developmental trauma. |

Matthew Zell, MS, MA, LMHC, NCC is a licensed mental health counselor, executive coach, and doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University. He specializes in working with adults, seniors, and teens, helping them navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, perfectionism, and rigid thinking. Matthew integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to foster psychological flexibility and meaningful engagement in life. Matthew holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University, a Master’s in Professional Communication from Clark University, and degrees in Physics and Natural Sciences from Worcester State University. His current research focuses on High IQ adults and subjective self worth, trauma, EMDR, and psychological flexibility.

Adria Cannon is a licensed mental health counselor associate with a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Saybrook University. She has continued at Saybrook University as a fifth-year student pursuing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She currently works at The Joy and Wellness Center as a pre-doctoral intern and an LMHCA. She enjoys working from a mind-body approach and combines her knowledge and experience in clinical psychology with inspiration from her years as a physical therapist assistant. Adria has experience working with adults, teens and children experiencing challenges in life including stress from school, work or relationships, anxiety, depression, grief, and adjustments. She values a collaborative approach and seeks to assist her clients in finding resiliency and well-being.

Dr. Caden Wayne Jones (he/him) is a postdoctoral fellow and LMHCA at The Joy and Wellness Center, where he provides individual therapy and psychological assessment under the supervision of Dr. Nick Jones, licensed clinical psychologist. He earned a Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University and has clinical experience across integrated primary care, residential/partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment, and outpatient mental health settings. Dr. Jones is passionate about helping others better understand themselves and create positive change through the process of therapy and neuropsychological assessment. Drawing from CBT, DBT, and solution-focused therapy, Dr. Jones supports clients in building emotional regulation skills, shifting non-preferred behaviors, and improving interpersonal relationships. He also provides trauma-focused therapy using EMDR to support healing from PTSD and developmental trauma, as well as gender affirming care for transgender clients.

Jose Ramirez (He/Him), M.S., is a 5th-year Clinical Psychology PhD candidate at Palo Alto University, with an emphasis in Diversity and Community Mental Health. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Eastern Washington University, where he received the Dean Jeffers W. Chertok Excellence Award. Before pursuing his doctorate, Jose gained seven years of experience working with inpatient psychiatric populations as a mental health technician in hospital settings. His professional interests include promoting mental health education and awareness in underserved communities—particularly within Latinx populations—and improving access to quality mental health care. Jose is bilingual (Spanish) and passionate about working with adults in both individual and couples therapy. His clinical focus includes helping clients navigate depression, anxiety, significant life stressors, and trauma, as well as supporting couples in improving communication and strengthening their relationships. Jose believes therapy is not only about reducing symptoms but also about helping clients thrive, build resilience, and find greater enjoyment and fulfillment in life. He is completing his third practicum at The Joy and Wellness Center, where he provides psychotherapy and conducts cognitive and neuropsychological assessments.

Rachel Loewen, M.A., LMCHA is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, and a doctoral student in counseling psychology at Northwest University. She currently works at The Joy and Wellness Center as a pre-doctoral intern under the supervision of Dr. Higgins. She specializes in working with adults, adolescents, and children, helping them navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Rachel integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR therapy when working with clients. She is passionate about providing a warm, empathetic, and goal orientated approach to the therapy space.

Joshua is a doctoral student in the counseling psychology program at Northwest University. He is pursuing a Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) in counseling psychology, expecting to graduate in 2027. He has clinical experience in community mental health, university counseling, crisis work, couples, and family therapy.
Joshua takes a "Self-Actualization" approach, seeking to help every client reach their full potential, not simply find ways to improve management of symptoms. He enjoys being flexible in his approach to therapy, being willing to take a practical, solution-focused approach or an existential one. Joshua mostly utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and internal family systems therapy (IFS). When working with couples and families, he uses the Gottman Method, which he has level 2 training in. He has a particular passion for working with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and relational issues. Joshua takes an active role in his client's health, seeking to engage equally in therapy sessions, and helping clients achieve their goals. |

Aigalesala Tauanu'u Afalava (Sala) is a psychology doctoral intern and licensed mental health therapist (LMHC) at The Joy and Wellness Center, where she provides individual therapy and psychological assessment under the supervision of Dr. Katrina Higgins, licensed clinical psychologist. Sala is completing her final year in the Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University and has clinical experience across private practice and community mental health settings.
Sala believes every person is unique and different, which is why she tailors her approach to fit her clients. Sala employs a combination of Person Centered Therapy, CBT, DBT, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focus, Exposure Response Prevention and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. |

David completed his bachelor's degree in psychology and now works as one of the Joy and Wellness Center's psychometrists. His role is to provide testing services to clients in a timely, respectful, and supportive manner. David is determined to help alleviate stress and give clients encouragement through the testing process.
